The main purpose of the paper is to develop a reflection on the actuality of Guy Debord's thought, especially on his concepts about power relations in the society of the spectacle. With this objective in mind, we intend to work on how he understands the relationship between politics, communication and everyday life. A comparative analysis of the book The Society of the Spectacle, published in 1967, with the text Comments On the Society of the Spectacle, published in 1988, will be carried out. In addition, a confrontation between the concepts of power of this author with the concepts of Foucault and Baudrillard. The central argument of the work is that Debord's concepts of power can significantly contribute to the understanding of fundamental aspects of the contemporary political situation.
